When you talk of "statistically independent" which variable is it you are measuring? And, when talking about "causally linked", what are you referring to? It is my impression in the former case you are talking about "the value of x", whereas in the latter case you are talking about "when x changes". So sure, there is a statistically independent observation, and a causal link, but they don't point to the same variable. Hence, I find this claim highly misleading, as it seems to imply the VALUE of x is causally linked; it isn't. – Whathecode Mar 26, 2022 12:08
